Folk Art Painting Class with Jenny Sammons

IYou are invited to come try your hand at Folk Art and learn a little about it while you do with artist Jenny Sammons.

Folk Art covers a wide range of art forms that are rooted in traditions that come from community and culture – expressing cultural identity by conveying shared community values and aesthetics.

Jenny Sammons is an artist living in Fairfield, Iowa. She loves to paint animals, nature and people and she's always finding captivating subjects. She's influenced by naive folk artists like Grandma Moses and Karla Gerard, and most meaningfully, she's drawn to African motifs and patterns as a way of connecting with her ancestral roots. Since a young age she's loved creating things with her hands and her love for pattern in design has carried over from her background in jewelry to her drawings and paintings.
