This spring we will continue to implement safety protocols due to COVID-19. 


If your child has any of the following symptoms please keep them home. They will not be allowed to attend class if they are experiencing any of the following: Fever or chills, Cough, Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, Fatigue, Muscle or body aches, Headache, New loss of taste or smell, Sore throat, Congestion or runny nose, Nausea or vomiting, or Diarrhea. Each student will have their temperature checked upon entering the Art Center. Students will be required to wear either a reusable cloth mask or a disposable mask while in class. Frequent hand-washing will also be required while at the art center. Art Center tables, chairs and touched surfaces and tools will be disinfected each day following class. We appreciate your help in making sure we all stay healthy and keeping those around us healthy as well.

Students may bring a bottle of water to class. They may not share with other students. 


KIDS Cinco de Mayo
Papier Maché Workshop

In this 2-session class kids will make a Latin-inspired paper-maché sculpture.

The projects made in this workshop will be on display in the Hallway Gallery at the Oskaloosa Art Center during Osky LatinFest on Saturday, May 7, 2022!

Beginning Welding
@ the Sculpture Workshop

This Beginning Welding class will provide students with basic MIG welding skills which include the use of welding equipment, tools, and materials.  Students need to be motivated, patient, and able to follow multi-step instructions.  Since welding can be potentially dangerous, students must also be consistent about safety precautions and wearing the required protective eyewear and clothing.

Welding equipment, tools, materials, and safety gear will be provided for use at the OAC Sculpture Workshop. 


This class will be offered TWICE on

Saturday May 21st.

First session:9-12pm 

Second session: 1-4pm

Age 18+

Limit  4  students


($50 class fee plus $25 lab/materials fee)

All fees must be paid before class begins.


The class will be held at the Oskaloosa Sculpture Workshop located on South Market St. across the street from Oskaloosa Glass.

ADULTS Giant Parade Puppet Workshop with
Uplifting Puppet Company

Calling all adults! Join us in a parade! In this class, you will make large paper-mâché & cardboard puppets. This class will teach you to get in touch with your theatrical side, how to build and carry a puppet, and participate in a real festival parade. Students will wear their finished puppets in the New Sharon Spring Festival Parade and/or Leighton 4th of July Parade.

Uplifting Puppet Co is local artistc and master puppeteer, Brant Bollman. He fights injustice with papier maché. 

3-session class

Tuesday, May 31, 6-8pm,

Wednesday, June 1, 6-8pm and

Thursday, June 2, 6-8pm

Age 18+

Limit 8 students (sign up with a friend or two and your can work as a team)

$40 for all 3 sessions.

enrollment policy:

The Oskaloosa Art Center reserves the right to accept or deny enrollment in any class, lecture or workshop by any applicant. Class sizes are limited and enrollment is a first come first served basis. Unfortunately, the Oskaloosa Art Center is unable to prorate students for missed classes or classes that they are unable to attend. The Oskaloosa Art Center strives to provide the highest quality art classes with various media for all ages. We value your feedback. inclement weather:

The Oskaloosa Art Center is located in Midwest Iowa and at times due to weather has found it necessary to cancel a class. If classes are cancelled due to hazardous weather conditions, a make up class will be scheduled. If students are unable to attend the make up class, students will be refunded the missed portion of their class fee.

oskaloosa art center course cancellation policy:

Occasionally the Oskaloosa Art Center may find it necessary to cancel a course or workshop due to low enrollment or other scheduling conflicts. If this occurs, registered students will be contacted and allowed to transfer to another class or be refunded the full course tuition and any additional fees.

student cancellation policy:

Students will receive a full refund if a request to withdraw is received by the Oskaloosa Art Center’s Director no later than 7 days prior to the first day of the course. Request to withdraw from a course less than 7 days prior to the first class session will not be eligible for refunds. If you register for a class or workshop last minute (within 1 week of the class), this cancellation policy still applies.
